Lauren McArthur Harris is an Associate Professor of History Education at Arizona State University. Her work focuses on representations of history in curricular resources and investigates how teachers teach history in schools. She is a former ninth grade world history teacher in Arlington, VA. She has published in journals such as Cognition and Instruction, Theory and Research in Social Education, and the Journal of Curriculum Studies. Dr. Harris is an associate editor for the journal Education Policy Analysis Archives. She is co-editor with Scott Metzger of the Wiley International Handbook of History Teaching and Learning (2018) and is currently co-editing the book Teaching Difficult Histories: Pictures of Practice (under contract with Teachers College Press). Stephanie F. Reid is an Assistant Professor of Literacy Education in the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education at the University of Montana. She studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge and Education at the University of Oxford and Hamline University before graduating from Arizona State University with a PhD in Learning, Literacies, and Technologies (May 2020). Prior to pursuing her doctoral degree, Dr. Reid was a middle school English Language Arts and Reading teacher for 15 years. She taught students in both England and the United States and won local, state, and national awards for her teaching. She has published in journals such as the Journal of Language and Literacy Education, Journal of Children’s Literature, Voices from the Middle, The Reading Teacher, Theory and Research in Social Education, and Visual Communication.
