Biography
Rob Martinelle is an Associate Professor of Secondary Social Studies and Teacher Education at the University of Rhode Island. His research interests lie at the intersection of reflective practice and critical social studies teacher education. He is the author of two forthcoming books, Navigating Tensions in Critical Social Studies: Teaching for a More Just Democracy (with Chris Martell) and Teaching Antifascist Media Literacy: Countering the Politics of Far-Right Media (with Lauren Funk). Rob has a bachelor’s degree in American Studies from UMass Boston, a master’s degree in secondary education from UMass Boston, and a doctorate in curriculum and teaching from Boston University. Prior to pursuing his doctorate, for seven years he worked as a secondary history teacher in the Boston Public Schools, where he also mentored beginning history teachers as a curriculum coach and supervising practitioner.
