Biography
Patrick Keegan is an assistant professor of education at Purdue University Northwest. Prior to becoming a teacher educator, Patrick taught elementary grades and middle school in New Hampshire. His research interests are in preparing elementary social studies teachers as critical civic educators, the role of emotion in civic education, and migrant youth civic engagement. His most recent scholarship has been published in Theory and Research in Social Education, International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, The Journal of Social Studies Research, and Democracy & Education. He also contributed chapters to two upcoming books published by Teachers College Press, Teaching Culturally and Linguistically Relevant Social Studies for Emergent Bilingual and Multilingual Youth, and Educating African Immigrant Youth: Schooling and Civic Engagement in K-12 Schools.
